American Idol - Season 8 - Top 3 - Results

Weird sketch at the beginning...

But this is American Idol! And our Top 2 will be revealed tonight! Who will be going to the finale and sing for the big prize? Find out tonight!


Over 88 million votes came in last night for Danny, Adam and Kris. Just over 1 million votes separating the top 2 tonight.

Alicia Keys is there to explain some things about Idol Gives Back. She introduces Noah, who comes from Rwanda and has a dream to help children with AIDS. He sings I'm The World's Greatest. Can't understand what he's singing, but he's full of energy and he makes me smile. :) The song is available on iTunes and the proceeds from the sale will go to help children who contracted AIDS. SO GO BUY IT! It's for a good cause.


Danny is up center stage with Ryan. We see clips from his hometown visit in Milwaukee. We see him reunite with Jamar and meet crowds after crowds of fans. He cries, he's moved, he pitches the first ball at the baseball game... Looks like he had a great, great hometown visit.

Back with Ryan, and here we go. After talking about how he did the night, Danny is sent to the stools to await his faith.

Now it's Kris' turn. And they show us his homecoming trip to Arkansas. The clip is set to "Everybody wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears. Parents reunion set to the original "Falling Slowly". The crowds are unbelievably huge and noisy! Kris joins Danny on the couch.


Back from the commercial, and the winner of season 6, Jordin Sparks sings her new single "Battlefield". She looks great, sounds good, but the song was pretty meh....


Commercial over, and now Adam is at center stage with Ryan. We are shown his homecoming clip in San Diego. Set to "Born To Be Wild" and to this other song by One Republic called "Come home". And to a third song "Baba O'Reilly". They showed the streaker. *LOL* And Adam is sent to the couch with the other two, for one last time. Katy Perry after the commercials.


Danny says he wants to know, wants to get to it already! Adam says, but I wanna see Katy Perry! And why would he not want that? She is wearing a cape with Adam Lambert embroided into it...


Ok, here we go... First to make it to Top 2 is..... KRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KRIS IS IN THE FINALE!!!!!! Simon's surprised face was PRICELESS.

Second person to be in the Finale is Adam. Any surprised there?

So Danny is going home. He looks happy and grateful for what's happened to him this season.

Top 3 tonight!

So Adam is going last. Again. 4th time. One each for Danny and Kris. Could the producers BE any more blatant? [/chandler's voice]


Tonight, the contestants are singing two songs - one chosen by the judges and one chosen by each contestant.


Danny Gokey - “Dance Little Sister” by Terrance Trent D’Arby - Paula's pick
Not bad. He's over singing quite a bit. But his voice sounds good. The "duel" with the sax was fun. Over all, good.


Kris Allen - “Apologize” by OneRepublic - Randy and Kara’s pick
Kris is at the grand piano, and he is sounding fantastic. What a great, great, great song choice for him! He sticks to the original, but with little vocal nuances here and there, to make it "Kris". He gave me goosebumps. FANTASTIC. Kara BLAMES Kris for the way he interpreted the song. Paula tells him that all three contestants are deserving of a Top 2 spot. And Simon BLASTS Kara for her comments to Kris, telling her she can't choose a song for Kris and then blame him for the way he sang it!


Adam Lambert - “One” by U2 - Simon’s pick
Adam is singing with the grand piano and strings accompanying him. I have to be honest and say that I LOVED how he started it all slow. Beautiful. But fuck he had to go and ruin it with that fucking screech. I really liked how he ended the song.

Danny Gokey - “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker
I love this song. I love Cocker's raspy, passionate vocals on that song. Danny should kill that song with his beautiful voice and raspy tone. Danny's on stage with a guitar and a quartet. His voice sounds good at the beginning, but the arrangement was WEIRD. Then he launches into the song with his trademark raspy, powerful voice... But somehow, I am not moved. I LOVED his long note on "beautiful" and the way it kinda died down in his throat... But other than that? I did not enjoy this as much as I should have. I am disappointed.


Kris Allen - “Heartless” by Kanye West
That was absolutely beautiful and wonderful and awesome and great and fanfuckingtastic! Loved that Kris came out with his guitar only - put the focus on him and him solely - and he seemed to really enjoy doing the song. Love his take on it, how he changed it up. THAT was the best performance of the night IMO.


Adam Lambert - “Cryin” by Aerosmith
There are parts of this I enjoyed a lot, others I couldn't stop laughing, and others I just plain hated and had to cover my ears.


So, to me, the night goes something like this:

Back from commercials, and Ryan chats with the Top 4. Kris feels blessed to have made it this far, and Simon tells him that he should feel like he belongs there, that they don't want humble anymore. Adam was stoked to do a Zeppelin song and he liked his outfit. Danny explains "that" note, and he laughs at himself. Allison says she's not the kind of person who talks back.

Before the results, Paula performs on the Idol stage "I'm Just Here For The Music". Nice lipsynching, Paula. Good beat, should do good in clubs...


And we continue with the music, with "Just a Girl" from No Doubt. Loved the performance and the song, but damn, the vocals were not great!


The results are announce in random order tonight. Starting with Allison. Then Danny. Moving on to Adam. And now Humble Kris. Crowd screams for both Adam and Kris, but not really for Allison nor for Danny. Ryan is sending one to safety, and it is... KRIS!!!!! Kris is TOP 3 and going to his hometown for a homecoming! He is genuinely surprised and happy!


Back from the break, and Daughtry is on the Idol stage performing is new single "No Surprise" of their new album "Leave This Town". It's good to hear some new music from Daughtry... He sounded good, although by the end he looked like he was out of breath... Kris presents Chris (ahah!) with an award for 5 million copies of their album sold in different countries.


Back from the commercial, Ryan announces a second person going to the Stools of Safety is.... Adam. No surprise.

Now, Allison and Danny... Danny.... is SAFE. Allison is going home. She is young... I still have a hard time seeing her as a 17yo.... She looks, acts and sounds so much more mature than her age... And holy shit she's KILLING that song tonight!!!!!! So much better than last night!

One judges choice and the other personal pick - 2 songs each for next week.

Adam Lambert - Whole Lotta Love (Led Zepelin)
Says it's his favorite of all the theme week. Ok, I'm back to laughing my ass off with Adam! That little bit with the guitarist - Mig/Ty all rolled up in one package! Vocally, I'd say it was great, the song was in a good range for him, except I hate his voice... But yeah, that was a funny performance, because it was so rock star 101 to me! Randy is smoking something if he thinks Adam is a rocker. And Kara? A rocker god? Damn, where are those people from?

Simon says that no one will be able to top Adam's performance tonight. So let the throwing of Allison, Danny and Kris under the bus commence....


Allison Iraheta - Cry Baby (Janis Joplin)
I don't like Allison's hair. She looks like Dilana! I LOVE this for Allison! She's really killing it vocally. I don't feel she's very connected to her lyrics tho.


Kris and Danny duet on Renegade (Styx)
The harmony sound good, really good. This is a bit too high for Kris, and it's perfect for Danny. Vocally, Danny was stronger and sounded better... But boy oh boy this look doesn't suit him. As much as I think Adam is a fake rockstar, Danny looked as much as one tonight. Problem is that Danny and Kris have very different voices and a different range... Must have been tough to find something that kinda suited them both.


Kris Allen - Come Together (The Beatles)
He wanted to play Revolution but he changed his song choice because it didn't feel right. Clearly this is not the best genre for Kris. Still I thought he sounded good vocally. But performance wise... Not as good as he can do, I think mainly because he was not comfortable with the song.

Danny Gokey - Dream On (Aerosmith)
So far I'm not liking it at all. The slow parts are so flat... Once he kicked in tho, HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!! But oh fuck the tuttutututututut, no no no Danny! The chorus was awesome, but the scream? HOLY FUCKING SHIT I THINK I PEED MYSELF LAUGHING!!!!!


Allison and Adam duet on Slow Ride (Foghat)
Allison sounded good... This was clearly the best duet of the night. I loved how the producers found a new and innovative way to have Adam perform last... AGAIN...

On March 27th of the year 2009, Oliver and Sebastian Pigott gave a show for their album release party. Sara Kamin was their opener. Here she is singing a duet with Oliver.

Oliver and Sebastian came on stage with a drummer and a bassist. They played a whole lot of their new songs from their album "Pigottery". They also sang a few older songs, a few covers, and jammed with Earl Stevenson, the drummer and the bassist until it was time to stop. It was an absolute fun night, full of great music with some great voices!
