Lyrics:

Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew
That someday it would lead me back to you
That someday it would lead me back to you

That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave

Fingers trace your every outline
Paint a picture with my hands
Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm
Change the weather still together when it ends

That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave

But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
Sunday morning rain is falling and I'm calling out to you
Singing someday it'll bring me back to you
Find a way to bring myself back home to you

And you may not know
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning

Andrew Austin - Just The Way I Feel - Album Review

I picked up Andrew Austin's album, Just The Way I Feel just about 2 weeks ago. The album is available for purchase at CD Baby. One can also listen to the album tracks there. Here's what I thought of the album, as well as some lyrics from each song.

Just The Way I Feel

Photobucket

1. Intro
Such a nice, mellow start to the album, nice lead in to the first song...

"I have come here to rest my bones
After 48 hours on the phone
It seems to me you put me in my place
After 48 hours in outer space..."

2. Just the Way I Feel
Nice groovy song. Horns give this a nice jazzy feel to it. I cannot help but move to this song, snapping my fingers, swaying my hips.

"It's not gonna be my fault this time,
Just the way I feel..."

3.This is Love
I really like Andrew's vocals on this one. The piano adds a nice little touch to this funky tune. This song is totally amazing live!

"If you think that this is love, I did too
Give me something deep, from your soul
I know It's the music that makes it so..."

4.Anna
Sexy, sexy song! I absolutely adore the piano on this, it gives it a bit of a melancholic feel to it. Very well written.

"I'm not privy to what you say
The silence rarely gets us anywhere anyway
I know you think that I'm too late
I'm still gonna sit right here and wait..."

Although in the liner notes, that last line was printed as "But I still think you're fucking great..."

5.I Get Lonely
I adore the strong reggae vibe of that song. Very very cool.

"Last night I did not sleep a wink
My pillow's too wet with the tears I cry
Can't see down to put my shoes on
My body counts as a carry on..."

6.Turn Me Over
Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice (I love Andrew's lower register, wow), gorgeous acoustic guitar, addictive chorus. Mmmmm...

"Turn me over on love
It's not like I need it
We haven't spoken in days now
Cuz you don't care
That's what probably is making me sad..."

7.Sleep
My absolute favorite from the album. This simple piano tune lets Andrew's soft vocals shine brightly. This song is beautiful live, played on piano and guitar...

"Sleep beneath the lights my darling sleep
Oh sleep
I would love to kiss your mouth but I won't
Ruin this moment

I won't say a word
The silence speaks louder
At least that's what I heard
I won't say a word

This love will never come back
This love has run its last lap
this love will never come back..."

Greg Neufeld and Andrew Austin - The Berkeley Church - December 29th 07 - Show Review

The Berkeley Church is a beautiful Toronto venue with wonderful acoustics. It is an old church that has been converted into a great event venue. Weddings, receptions, fashion shows, music shows, you name it!

On the bill was Andrew Austin and Greg Neufeld. Not only were they playing both a set, there also was a DVD being shot to be added to Greg's upcoming album as a bonus feature (the album will most probably be available late January, early February, but don't quote me on that).

Greg took the stage first, and was in great vocal form. He played a 10 song set:

Lazy Eyes
At Your Door
You and I Both (by Jason Mraz)
Daughters (by John Mayer)
So Far
I'm Ready (by Bryan Adams)
Learning song (with full band)
Sleep You Off (with full band)
Ever You (with full band)
Delicate (by Damien Rice)

Greg was in a playful mood and joked around with the crowd. "You probably heard me play this on a tv show called Canadian Idol... But you didn't vote for me...", he said, jokingly, as he was getting ready to play "I'm Ready". He had the crowd laughing with him. Greg played a mostly acoustic set, except for a few songs he did with a full band (Andrew Austin on guitar/piano, and Andrew's drummer and bassist). That was a nice change - although I absolutely adore Greg acoustic - and it made for a nice little set.

Greg really made my night by playing "Ever You" "Sleep You Off" and "Delicate". I of course enjoyed all of them - from the slow paced, melancholic "So Far", to the powerful "I'm Ready" to the bob-your-head-with-the-beat "At Your Door", I really do love them all! But I especially love those particular three. "Ever You" and "Sleep You Off" are new songs, not yet available, most likely to be on the upcoming album *fingers crossed* "Ever You" has such a great, catchy chorus that really shows off Greg's voice and range. He reaches for those high notes and get into the growl a bit... It's beautiful and gives me goosebumps every time. "Sleep You Off" is just so beautiful... It really shows off Greg's softer side and his velvet voice. The chorus is just amazing...

"If I can sleep you off
If I can close my eyes
And wake up like I forgot
If I can dream you out
Of all the things I've missed
Somehow dreams are different"
(not too sure about this last line)

And Delicate... What to say about Delicate? Vocally, it's a hard song to sing, but it fits Greg so well... It really shows off his range and just how beautiful and textured his voice is.

So why'd you fill my sorrows
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've known
And why'd ya sing hallelujah
If it means nothing to ya
Why'd you sing with me at all?

Andrew was on next. He played a great set, maybe 10-12 songs? Full band, backup singers, the whole thing. He is so good live! I thought he was really, really good, much better than on the tv show. He's much more jazz influenced than what we saw - he played a long jam with his guitarist (who's quite nice) that was really freaking awesome! Songs he played included Gravity, Sunday Morning (I love this song for him) and many others from his own cd (Just The Way I Feel, Turn Me Over amongst others). Very nice, talented guy that I will most definitely go see play again.

As an encore, Andrew played "Let's Get It On", and it was really cool. Love all the jazz influences this guy has. Then he called Greg up to come sing with him, and they did a song they wrote together, called "Sleep", available on Andrew's album. Their voices harmonize very well together.

"This love will never come back
This love has run it's last lap
This love will never come back"

Greg Neufeld and Andrew Austin have the perfect gift for Toronto residents looking to head out on the town over the holidays -- a concert and DVD shoot in one of the best venues in the city.

The two former Canadian Idol competitors, who met during the Top 200 week during Season 4 and were reunited on Season 5, will be ripping up the stage at the converted Berkeley Church on Queen Street East on Dec. 29. The event will be recorded and used to create a DVD supplement for Neufeld's upcoming album.

Neufeld, who placed seventh on Idol's Season 5 and in the Top 14 on Season 4, is billing the show as one of the biggest of his career.

"It's just an amazing room," he told Eye on Idol, referring to the building's legendary acoustics. "We were like, 'we have to play a show here. We have to do it.'"

The Berkeley Church was built in 1871 and, since its transformation to a live event venue, has hosted such famous names as The Fugees, Sam Roberts and Coldplay. It still contains the former church's original 17-foot stained glass windows.

"The Berkeley Church is the coolest venue in the universe," added Austin, who made it to Top 44 in Season 4 and Top 18 in Season 5. "Or at least in Toronto. It's like a dream venue for a musician and for the audience."

The venue carries special significance in the world of Canadian Idol. Neufeld himself did some on-camera interviews in the location during Season 5, and the Barenaked Ladies' workshop during Season 3 was also shot there.

Austin, who recently released a CD called "Just the Way I Feel," said he's glad to be playing with Neufeld both because they're friends, and because Neufeld was the competitor he had picked to win.

"I still think it was crazy that Greg got voted off that early," Austin told Eye on Idol. "I thought he was the best guy in the contest. I'm glad Brian won because I think he's great too, but Greg was my favourite guy in the show."

Tickets for the all-ages show are $20 and available online through Ticketbreak.
