Random Song of The Day - Roper - 1985 - video and lyrics

Christian Punk Music anyone?

Lyrics

On the back of the schoolbus singing,
"I Love Rock and Roll"
put another dime in the jukebox,
Let the Good Times Roll
Grab the back of a Buick Skylark
just like Michael J. Fox
Grind the trucks on your brand new skateboard
just like Tony Hawk
Delorean those days are gone
We could breakdance, Pop-lock our wrists kid
before your grunge rock ever existed

[Chorus:]
Years may seem so distant
feels like a million miles
troubles were nonexistant 1985

Run DMC were the kings of rock then,
at the record store
Megatron versus Optimus Prime yeah
Commodore 64

Delorean those days are gone
Flux Capacitor in the back
and we're pushing eighty while the Libyans attack and...

Don't want to be
on the marquee
Twenty years will fade to nothing
pop the clutch and then we'll see

Micheal Johns - Heart On My Sleeve - MyFox Tampa Bay - video

Kris Allen – Miami Tailgate Party – VIDEO

Kris played three new songs at this event, as well as introduced his band:

Kris’s Band:

Andrew – Lead Guitar
Chris Torres – Bass
Ryland Steen – Drummer
Cale Mills – Guitar/Keyboards

The new songs :

Can't Stay Away (via WickedJovi) - really love this one live!

Before We Come Undone (via yendiders) - sounds really good!

Written All Over My Face (via yendiders) - Catchy!

Plus he did his new single, Live Like We're Dying, which sounds much better live than on record.

Kris Allen - New Album Preview

Here are all the songs that will appear on Kris' self titled new album, available on Nov 17th. 30 seconds snippets. Which one do you like? Which one don't you like? Tell me!

Here's the title list (probably not in order):

- Live Like We're Dying
- Before We Come Undone
- Can't Stay Away
- The Truth
- Written All Over My Face
- Bring It Back
- Red Guitar
- Is It Over
- Let It Rain
- Alright With Me
- Lifetime
- I Need To Know
- Heartless

The songs that caught my attention: Can't Stay Away, The Truth, Bring It Back (it sounds like "All We Are" from One Republic), Red Guitar, Alright With Me, I Need To Know. They all sound interesting. I like that the coronation song is no where to be found on the album - yeah! Also like that they added Heartless, but I'm not sure how good this version is going to be...

Listen here! Let me know what you think!

David Cook - One Second To Change Your Life - ESPN Montage - video

So Cherry Lane Publishing, who are David Cook's publisher, have snippets of songs that were recorded by David. Some of them were songs from his pre-idol time, others were songs that didn't make the cut for his post-idol debut, his self titled album "David Cook".

One of those songs, One Second To Change Your Life, has been picked up by ESPN and used for a Baseball Post Season Montage.

Check it out here!

Someone loves themselves some David Cook at ESPN!

Perhaps we'll end up getting this song somehow? Perhaps on the new album? Or maybe on a deluxe version of the first album?

Lyrics:

A hundred signs choices at every turn
hours stacking up with time to burn
this road will keep on going it only stops for you
it's up to you so make a move

it only takes
one second to change your life
everything can turn
when you believe you lie and take turns tonight
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air you've held inside
one second to change your life

a million skies and all of them are fake
behind your eyes
you got it made
every guess is young at heart but i've been right where you are
it's the only shape
take your own today

it only takes
one second to change your life
everything can turn when your believe your lie
and take turns tonight
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air that you've held inside
one second to change your life

one second to change your life
one second just stand and stare
fingers crossed for the other side
when you cant stop moving with the other flying kind

it only takes
one second to change your life
when you believe your lie and take turns tonight
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air you've held inside
one second's too long
it only takes one second to change your life
it only takes one second to change your life
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air you've held inside
one second to save your life

Random Song of The Day - Damien Rice - Rootless Tree - lyrics and video

There are many amazing versions of this powerful song. Here are a few of my favorites.

Live from The Basement with only a piano. Probably his most emotional performance. Haunting.

Live with a chorist, strings and piano

Live from Abbey Road, with a chorist, piano, strings, drums. Gorgeous.

Studio version

Lyrics

What I want from you
Is empty your head
They say be true
Don't stain your bed
We do what we need to be free
And it leans on me
Like a rootless tree

What I want from us
Is empty our minds
We fake a fuss
And fracture the times
We go blind
When we've needed to see
And it leans on me
Like a rootless...

So fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
It's nothing to you
And if you hate me, hate me, hate me
Then hate me so good that you can let me out
Let me out of this hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out,
Let me out of this hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out

What I want from this
Is learn to let go
No not of you
Of all that's been told
Killers reinvent and believe
And this leans on me
Like a rootless...

So fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it,
It's nothing to you
And if you hate me, hate me , hate me,
Then hate me so good that you can let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out of this hell when you're around

And fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
It's nothing to you
And if you hate me, hate me, hate me
Then hate me so good that you can let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out,
Hell when you're around...(Repeat 4x)

Let me out, let me out, let me out...

It's hell when you're around

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Tara Jean Popowich Video Montage - VIDEO

Thank you to mrduckbears6 for the video

I am very happy for Tara Jean. She didn't start out as my favorite dancer, but she quickly became just that. I am amazed she did as well as she did, and she only performed in her own style ONCE (aside from the solos obviously). Incredible. When she did perform her solos, I always wanted to see more and more and more.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - FINALE - And The Winner Is... - VIDEO

I'm so happy that in the opening montage they mentioned that SYTYCD Canada was the first of all the SYTYCD to ever have a tapper and a krumper in their top 20.

so You Think You Can Dance Canada - FINALE - Judges Choices Part 3 - VIDEO

Here are the last of the judges choices.

- Melanie M and Cody - Krump
- Kim and Everett - Jazz
- Tara Jean and Vincent - Contemporary (that was my very favorite of the whole season)
- Jayme Rae and Daniel - Dance Hall
- Tara Jean and Vincent - Salsa
- Jayme Rae and Everett - Jazz Funk (my second favorite!)

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - FINALE - Judges Choices Part 2 - VIDEO

Here's part 2 of the judges choice!

- Kim and Emmanuel - Jazz Funk
- Jayne Rae and Vincent - Contemporary
- Tara Jean and Everett - House
- Melanie M and Vincent - Paso Doble
- Corynne and Austin - Contemporary

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - FINALE - Judges Choices Part 1 - VIDEO

Here are the first 5 routines the judges loved during the season.

- Tara Jean and Everett - Tap
- Amy and Vincent - Jive
- Jayme Rae and Everett - Mambo
- Kim and Cody - Hip Hop
- Tara Jean and Vincent - Romba

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Tara Jean and Vincent - Hussle to Donna Summer's Last Dance- VIDEO

Those two have such chemistry! Vincent is a solid, strong partner, he always makes the girl shine really bright. And Tara Jean makes it easy for him with all of her great technic.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Jayme Rae and Vincent - Contemporary to Martin Sexton's Can't Stop Thinking 'bout You- VIDEO

It was well executed, but it left me a little bit cold. Not my favorite Stacey Tookey's choreography.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Tara Jean and Everett - Jazz to One Republic's Say (All I Need)- VIDEO

This jazz piece looked more like contemporary to me, but it was nonetheless absolutely beautiful. TJ and Everett have lots of chemistry, and it was great to see them dance together again.

Sebastian Pigott jumps from 'Idol' fame to acting stint on 'Being Erica'

By Cassandra Szklarski (CP)

http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jyvDUmIYZr3mYotNIn88VfpFGsJw

TORONTO — To hear Sebastian Pigott tell it, there's nothing like a singing competition to launch an acting career.
Since being voted off "Canadian Idol" last year, the young crooner has enjoyed a steady stream of television gigs with stints on "The Listener," "Heartland," "The Border," and most significantly, "Being Erica."

Pigott popped up in the season premiere of the time-travelling series as an intriguing barista at Erica's favoured cafe but, on Tuesday, his storyline takes off as his character reveals a musical side, and a charming ability to get under Erica's skin.
"It's been a great year since Idol," says Pigott, who had a modest acting resume before reaching the Top 8 on "Idol."

"Doing a show like 'Canadian Idol,' it's a wonderful boost - exposure-wise and promotion-wise. Since then, I've been booked solid acting and working. I consider myself an artist above all and any chance I get to make art and get paid for it is golden for me."

Pigott certainly makes the most of his screen time Tuesday as he performs a song he wrote with his brother Oliver, who also auditioned for "Idol" but fell short of the Top 10.

Later, he strips down to his underwear for a comical time-travelling sequence with star Erin Karpluk, whose neurotic character revisits past regrets each week with the help of her therapist.

When Pigott read the script and saw the extent of his bold character's exposure, he says he immediately took drastic action to prepare.

"I went out and got protein powder and hit the gym, religiously," he says.

"If you're going to get naked on TV you want to look good, you know. And then I got all these people coming up to me afterwards going, 'You know we've got to get you into a tanning bed.' I play a barista! At what point do you think you should be hitting the tanning salon?"

Adding to the spectacle was the fact that the sequence was shot in the middle of the day on a Toronto bridge. Police closed off access to passersby, but an apartment building overlooking the scene gave some residents a birds-eye view, and that nearly brought proceedings to a halt, he says.

"Apparently somebody came down from the apartment just beside and they thought I was about to jump," says Pigott.

"They thought that's what all the police were there for - some naked guy in a cowboy hat was about to hurl himself off the bridge."

Nothing so dire is in store this week, with Pigott's character Kaj proving he's just quirky enough to keep up with Erica's off-kilter dalliances from reality.

Pigott says he's especially thrilled to be able to meld his musical side with his acting passion, noting that he'll get to sing again on the show.

"There's a lot of stuff in the works with the music side of 'Being Erica' and I've been talking with Temple Street about doing some more stuff with them," he says.

All this coincidentally dovetails with an album release in November of music from the Pigott Brothers. Pigott says he and his brother Oliver recorded a raw rootsy-rock disc for less than $1,000 and plan to release a single by the end of the month.
In the new year, he's also set to play a sociopath on the upcoming cop series "The Bridge," and will star in a western he wrote called, "The Two Deaths of Henry Baker."

Pigott says he always hoped "Idol" would help him land a diverse career.

"I went in with the plan to not win and I wanted to capitalize on it and get myself out there and get more work for myself as an artist," he says.

"It's all I ever wanted. Right now my m.o. is just to keep the momentum going and not shoot myself in the foot."

David Cook - Myrtle Beach, SC - Oct 15th 2009 - show review and pictures

I was SO excited for this show - not only had it been 8 months since the last time I saw the boys, but I got to share the whole experience with my very best friend Allison. It was a long time coming! And we enjoyed it to the fullest. :)

Allison and I had purchased a "crash the barricades" ticket that included dinner (hot-dogs, hamburgers and chips lol) and was suppose to get us in the club before the others. Little did we know, there was also another type of advanced tickets that got people in the club at the same time as we did. As such, we were not as close to the stage as we wished we'd be. But it was still good - we were 6 people from the stage, no tall 6ft people in front of us, between Andy and David. The view was amazing, and we didn't mind not being up against the stage one bit (although it sure would have been cool!).

So, while we were waiting in line to get into the venue, a security guy walked by and was telling people that if they caught us with our cameras, that they would throw us out. At least that is what I heard... Allison says the guy said he'd make us check our camera for 2$. If I had heard that... I would have chanced getting my cam in the venue! But since I heard otherwise, and didn't want to be thrown out, we took my camera back to the car. Oh well. The iphone pics that I got are just that - iphone pics. But some are still pretty good, so I'm not too upset about it.

So we got:

Heroes
Mr. Sensitive
We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping (2007, unreleased)
Kiss on the Neck (w/Hotel California snippet)
Souvenir (2008, unreleased)
Lie
Bar-ba-sol
Died in Your Arms (Cutting Crew cover)
Declaration
Come Back To Me
Light On
I Did It For You

Heroes is so freaking GOOD as an opener. It just plain kicks ass. I was so so so happy to hear Honest again, and to watch Neal sing. *thud* I just love that song. KOTN is fucking HOT HOT HOT! Neal licking his guitar - me dying. IDIFY rocks my socks live, it is so freaking good. I would have never guessed that from the record version only. Lie was beautiful, but damn freaking people were singing along while he sang without the mike. *shakes head* I don't get how people cannot understand that they need to shut up.

I pogoed so freaking hard to Died in Your Arms and Declaration. Those two songs back to back had me sweating and smiling from ear to ear!!! Never though I could pogo to Died in Your Arms before. *LOL*

I love love love love love that he played Souvenir. We don't hear it often, and it's one of Allison's fav, so I was really pleased we got that.

I busted out my Light On app for LO. LOL I know, I'm a dork, but it made me happy. *LOL*

We went out to the buses after the show. Artie was out signing, as was Kyle. But they never came to our sides. Oh well. Then David came out, signed for about half of the crowd, and then security took the "barricade" down, so Dave left. The buses actually left 10 min after that, so I guess David really stayed for as long as he could. We were disappointed, but were ok with it all.

It was an amazing show, in a really great venue, and I enjoyed every second of it!!!

Here's a sample of my pictures. Feel free to repost, but please leave the tags on.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Jayme Rae and Everett - Jazz Funk to David Guetta's Sexy Chick- VIDEO

I LOVED that routine. Not a whole lot of real dancing, but so much acting and fun moves... Really enjoyed it!

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Jayme Rae and Everett - Mambo to Joe Arroyo's En Barranguilla Me Quedo- VIDEO

Looking pretty good! Jayme Rae's dress is falling apart, beads are flying off everywhere. They were lucky not to step on anything and break their necks!

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Kim and Cody - Hip-Hop to Bobby Brown's Humpin' Around - VIDEO

So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Tara-Jean and Vincent - Romba to Enrique Iglesias's Hero - VIDEO

I'm not surprised Vincent did as well as he did. He's such a good ballroom dancer! Aside from her solos, Tara-Jean has never danced in her genre, which is contemporary. She danced 5 ballroom dances so far in the season! Crazy!

Exclusive Interview with Blake Lewis – Heartbreak on Vinyl Out Now!

http://www.idolstalker.com/exclusive-interview-with-blake-lewis-heartbreak-on-vinyl-out-now/

Have you had a chance to listen to Blake Lewis’ new album, Heartbreak on Vinyl? If you haven’t, you definitely need to check it out (it’s out today! Buy it on Amazon or iTunes!).

It’s a lot closer to what you would expect from Blake than the music he released on Audio Day Dream and I really can’t say enough about how happy I am for him. I had the opportunity to chat with Blake this morning. Here’s the quick interview!

Idol Stalker: What were your main inspirations for the songs on Heartbreak on Vinyl?
Blake Lewis: My ex-girlfriend, actually. When I started making the album, it was back in January when I was getting out of a relationship and suffered my first heartbreak. I first wrote ‘Our Rapture of Love’ and then I wrote ‘Sad Song’ after we broke up. I tried to get her back which led to ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ and ‘Left My Baby For You.’

IS: How is this album different than Audio Day Dream?
BL: The content is different. Before, I set out to make a dance album versus a heartbreak album. This one is more personal and a little deep and sentimental. ADD already had a set concept since it had been in my head for four years before. Heartbreak on Vinyl is kind of organic. ADD was a pop album that was made in a hurry but Heartbreak was recorded at my house and I got to collaborate with my friends.

IS: Has signing with Tommy Boy Records given you more creative freedom?
BL: Yeah. I got the record done, created it and then turned it in. With Clive Davis, there was too much meddling where he’d say things like “I don’t like this chorus” and we’d have to make changes. It’s not like that now. I have my job and they have theirs.

IS: What is your favourite track?
BL: They are all sentimental. ‘Binary Love’ is very seductive. It was in the works before the rest of the songs while the others came about more organically. Heartbreak on Vinyl is close to my heart and is one of my favorite songs that I have ever written. I gave a copy of the album to my ex.

IS: Really? How did that go?
BL: It was great. She’s a great person and we’ve been friends for 6 years.

IS: You seem to be the sort of artist who is always learning and evolving. Who are your main influences right now?
BL: I’m listening to a lot of electro and I’m in a DJ-conscious frame of mind. I’ve got Jamie Lidell on repeat. It’s feel-good music. I’ve also been listening to Discovery and Glitch Mob is just amazing. It’s the direction that I wish hip hop would take in the future.

IS: What have you got planned over the next few months?
BL: Gigs here and there. Live performances and deejaying. My favorite holiday is just around the corner – Halloween.

IS: Do you dress up?
BL: Oh yeah. I love it. I’m also looking forward to the Heartbreak on Vinyl launch parties.

Thanks again for the interview, Blake!

Random Song of The Day - Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You - video and lyrics

I asked her to stay, but she wouldn't listen
She left before I had the chance to say
Oh
The words that would mend
The things that were broken
But now it's far too late, she's gone away

Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Thinking: "Why does this happen to me?
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
Hard to believe it

It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you

The taste of her breath, I'll never get over
The noises that she made kept me awake
Oh
The weight of the things that remained unspoken
Built up so much it crushed us everyday

Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Thinking: "Why does this happen to me?
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
Hard to believe it

It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you

Whoa, oh, oh, oh

It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you

Whoa, oh, oh, oh

Of all the things I felt but never really shown
Perhaps the worst is that I ever let you go
I should not ever let you go, oh oh oh

It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you

Whoa, oh, oh, oh

It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you
And I won't go home without you
And I won't go home without you
I won't go home without you

Random Song of The Day - Richard Walters - Elephant in the Room - video and lyrics

Live acoustic performance

Studio recording (and choreography by Jakob Karr)

Lyrics

Calling you to wake
Shouting in my car that's stalled outside
And it's pure coincidence I'm sure
Falling from my mouth, secondary doubts I've found myself in
Can't seem to look you in the eye

And I hope you can see
I'm more than this, this heap at your feet
Who are you to judge me?
Who are you to preach?
Control has slipped away from me again

How heavy are these words?
They're heavier than air
That rushes past your face as you drive away from me again
How heavy are these hands?
They're heavier than blood
That rushes to my head as you walk away from me again

Forcing you to speak
Snapping out my voice seems smaller now, it's only whispering my life
Paper cuts in time
I insist you keep these letters here and read them over if you can

And I hope you can see
I'm more than this, this heap at your feet
Who are you to judge me?
Who are you to preach?
Control has slipped away from me again

How heavy are these words?
They're heavier than air
That rushes past your face as you drive away from me again
How heavy are my hands?
They're heavier than blood
That rushes to my head as I will walk away from here again

How heavy are these words?
They're heavier than air
That rushes to my face as you turn away from me again
How heavy are these words, heavier than time
That rushes past your face as you would turn to walk away again

Random Song of The Day - Jason Mraz - If It Kills Me - video and lyrics

Hello, tell me you know
Yeah, you figured me out
Something gave it away
And it would be such a beautiful moment
To see the look on your face
To know that I know that you know now

And baby thats a case of my wishful thinking
You know nothing
Cause you and I
Why, we go carrying on for hours, on and
We get along much better
Than you and your boyfriend

Well all I really wanna do is love you
A kind much closer than friends use
But I still cant say it after all we've been through

And all I really want from you is to feel me
As the feeling inside keeps building
And I will find a way to you if it kills me
If it kills me

Well how long, can I go on like this,
Wishing to kiss you,
Before I rightly explode?
This double life I lead isn't healthy for me
In fact it makes me nervous
If I get caught I could be risking it all
Baby there's a lot that I miss
In case I'm wrong

Well all I really wanna do is love you
A kind much closer than friends use
But I still can't say it after all we've been through

And all I really want from you is to feel me
As the feeling inside keeps building
And I will find a way to you if it kills me
If it kills me

If I should be so bold
I'd ask you to hold my heart in your hand
Tell you from the start how I've longed to be your man
But I never said I would
I guess I'm gonna miss my chance again

All I really wanna do is love you
A kind much closer than friends use
But I still can't say it after all we've been through

And all I really want from you is to feel me
As the feeling inside keeps building
And I will find a way to you if it kills me
If it kills me
If it kills me
I think it might kill me

And all I really want from you is to feel me
It's a feeling inside that keeps building
And I will find a way to you if it kills me
If it kills me
If it kills me
It might kill me
