American Idol Season 7 - Top 20 - Top 10 Girls

Another lukewarm night... Overall, the girls were better than last week, but they were still a bit bland. No real break through performances tonight.

Carly Smithson - “Crazy on You”

I really liked this song choice for Carly. The tone of her voice really suited this song. She seemed quite uncomfortable tho, and didn't let loose quite enough to really pull this song off. Her vocals were brilliant, but her physical performance was a bit lacking. She did a great job nonetheless, and was one of my favorite tonight.

Syesha Mercado - “Me And Mr. Jones”

I didn't like this song for Syesha. I like her softer, lower voice, but her voice is thin in these low parts. Her last, held note was ... weird.

Brooke White - “You’re So Vain”

I liked this very, very much. Her lowest notes were a bit rough, but she recovered well from them. Her voice lends itself very well to the singer/songwriter vibe she had going on tonight. She seemed really comfortable on stage. I also like when she reaches for the highest notes, her voice goes a bit raspy. Nice, very nice,

Ramiele Malubay - “Don’t Leave Me This Way”

I did not like this for her, it did not allow her to showcase her range, her powerful voice at all. She seemed quite distracted throughout the song. The beginning was weird, the dancing distracted her from her vocals, which resulted in a flat, emotionless delivery.

Kristy Lee Cook - “You’re No Good”

I actually enjoyed Kristy this week. So much better than last week. The little country flavor of the song really suits her. Her vocals were good - it's too bad her voice cracked when she went for that high note. Her physical performance is lacking tho.

Amanda Overmyer - “Carry On My Wayward Son”

Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. Oh my, what happened to her? She looked so sad tonight for some reason. She was really pitchy throughout, and her usual powerful, emotional vocals were really absent tonight. Not good at all.

Alaina Whitaker - “Hopelessly Devoted To You”

Not bad, but not great either. She needs a slower tempo to allow her vocals and phrasing to really work together. The verses were actually good, but the chorus was a bit of a let down. She was pitchy on the highest notes, and a bit flat on the rest of it.

Alexandrea Lushington - “If You Leave Me Now”

I really like her voice - she can really sing! And I love her style. And while she sang this song well, it just didn't work all together.

Kady Malloy - “Magic Man”

I did not like this. I so agree with Simon - something just isn't right. She's so likable in her little clips, funny, personable. But once she hits the stage, this all goes out the window. Awful song choice, so so physical performance, ok vocals. The arrangement was also not great...

Asia’h Epperson - “All By Myself”

I'm so over contestants singing this song... Asia'h didn't do this song justice at all. Her phrasing and pronunciation were weird. And the first time she sings the "All by myself" her voice leaves her. OUCH. Asia'h can put so much emotion in her songs, but she didn't do that at all tonight.

Best: Carly Smithson, Brooke White
Worst: Amanda Overmyer, Asia'h Epperson

Going home: Kady and Amanda
